Here's a list of things that are in the Irish Quilter's fabric shop in Ireland, we visited in May 2023, this relatively new Irish quilt shop is much more than a fabric shop, we visited for a workshop with Leanna McGiveron (I'll write a post about that soon!). There was so much more than fabric that caught my eye but here are 8 things if I were to write a list of all the best bits!
Extensive Fabric Selection: this Quilt shop has a wide variety of high-quality fabrics, including different colours, prints, patterns, and textures. There are pre-cuts, panels and bolt and bolt of fabrics. honestly it is very cute shop with painted shelves and vintage suitcases packed with fat quarters. It is a treasure throve of quilty goodness, popular brands such as Moda, AGF, Dashwood as well as much much more including an extensive clearance section, everyone loves a bargain!
2. Notions and Tools: there is a comprehensive range of quilting notions and tools such as rulers,
cutting mats, rotary cutters, scissors, pins, needles, thimbles, marking tools, and specialty
quilting rulers, seam rippers and all the other little bits an pieces you see people have but
usually cant find in Ireland. I bought 1/4inch tape and a nice new pink seam ripper, a
magnetic needle minder and some different needles.
3. Quilting Patterns and Books: There is a great collection of quilting patterns and books that can
inspire and guide quilters of all skill levels, just browsing the shelves provide new ideas and techniques that could be learned.
There are a lot more than traditional quilt patterns too there are English paper piecing, foundation piecing and lots of embroidery and needle point patterns.
4. Batting and Interfacing: A selection of batting and interfacing materials to suit various quilting projects, I bought some minky backing and it turned out so lovely.
5. I love thread and there is a wide range of Thread and Embroidery Supplies, the Irish quilter's shop has a wide range of high-quality threads in different weights and colours, as well as embroidery supplies, needles, and embroidery floss as well as loads of bag making hardware, buckles and elastics.
6. Quilting Classes and Workshops: Regularly scheduled quilting classes and workshops for
different skill levels, offering instruction on various techniques and projects, the shop has a
wonderful space with lots of space for working on projects either at a sit and sew or at a
workshop, click the button to go to the Irish quilters website. We had lunch included and it
was just yummy, healthy but with some treats to keep our sewing sugar levels up!
7. Quilt Displays and Samples, we attended a bias tape and Celtic Knot making workshop so
there were lots of samples of the Celtic knots on display, there are other quilts on display too,
showcasing finished projects for upcoming quilting workshops.
8. Knowledgeable Staff is such an important part of a quilt shop and Christine is a wonderful
quilter and shop owner, she is friendly and knowledgeable and she is passionate about
quilting and can offer advice, answer questions, and assist in your quilting journey. She is
also creating a community and homely feel to her shop, a place where I could spend hours
sewing and connecting with like minded sewing enthusiasts.
Remember, this list is based on what caught my eye, there is so much more on offer In the Irish quilter shop which is 20 minutes from Limerick in Shannon Co.Clare, check out the website and contact Christine when you are making a visit.
